All 67 Alabama County Jails
Alabama has 67 counties. Each one runs its own jail under the county sheriff. Inmate records are kept at the local level. Most counties post a jail roster online. You can search by name to find current inmates. Select a county below to find sheriff contact info, jail roster links, and inmate search resources for that area.
County jails hold people with sentences of one year or less. They also hold those waiting for trial. Longer sentences go to state prison under ADOC. The county seat listed shows where the main courthouse and jail are located. Some counties have separate jail buildings outside town. A few counties use mobile apps instead of websites for jail rosters.
Note: Choctaw County closed its jail in July 2019. Inmates from that area now go to nearby counties for housing.
